Manchester United coach, Jose Mourinho has told the club’s executive vice-chairman, Ed Woodward that he wants new deals for midfielders, Juan Mata and Ander Herrera, reports Evening Standard.
Mata, who finally decided on his future at Old Trafford, has less than a year in his current United’s contract.
The former Chelsea star will be free to negotiate with teams outside of the Premier League from the beginning of next year.
Herrera, on the other hand, is set to leave the Red Devils on a free transfer next summer to join Spanish La Liga side, Athletic Bilbao.
The Spaniard is into the final year of his current deal at United and his future has been thrown into doubt under Mourinho.
According to Calciomercato, the 29-year-old will not extend his contract with United and will look to leave next summer to join Bilbao.
Herrera has featured in two of United’s three Premier League games so far this campaign.
Mourinho’s side will take on his former club, Chelsea, in Premier League fixture this weekend.
