Boko Haram insurgents have reportedly attacked a military base in Baga, Borno state
The attack occurred less than 24 hours after they invaded Gudumbali area in the Guzamala LGA of the same state Barely twenty-four (24) hours after Boko Haram insurgents attacked Gudumbali area, a town in the Guzamala local government area of Borno, the extremist group has launched a fresh attack on a military base in Baga, Kukawa LGA. After the attack on Gudumbali, on Saturday, September 8, the terrorists proceeded to Baga on Sunday and staged another attack on the army formation.
Ahmad Salkida, an independent investigator familiar with the Lake Chad and Boko Haram crisis, who tweeted the incident said the number of casualties on both sides is yet to be ascertained. He said the group staged another attack on another military facility in Baga, Kukawa, on the shores of the Lake Chad while attention was still on the attack on Guzamala on Saturday.
He earlier reported that Brig.-Gen. Texas Chukwu, Army director public relations, confirmed the attack on Gudumbali. He said troops of Sector 3 Operation Lafiya Dole deployed at Gudumbali, Guzamala LGA also inflicted overwhelming casualty on the terrorists due to superior fire power while some of the terrorists fled to the fringes of Lake Chad. Chukwu said the insurgents who came to extort, terrorise law abiding citizens as well as to attack the military base in the town met a serious resistance by the gallant troops.
