Buhari vs Atiku: UK govt tells Nigerians how to save democracy, deploys 60 observers

Catriona Laing, the British High Commissioner to Nigeria, has urged Nigerians to protect their democracy, by going out to vote tomorrow and “to consolidate the progress since 2015″.

Liang, speaking in a video shared on Friday, also disclosed that over 60 observers have been deployed in 15 states around the country for Saturday’s general elections.
She said although Nigerians were highly disappointed after the elections were postponed last week, that should not deter them from going out to vote.
“Tomorrow is polling day again; we recognise the huge disappointment of Nigerians since they woke up last Saturday to hear the news that the elections have been postponed, but your vote still counts.
“It’s your chance to make a difference; not just to vote for the politicians of your choice, but also to play your part in Nigeria’s emerging democracy; helping to consolidate the progress since 2015.
“As a long-time friend and partner in Nigeria, we will be playing our part, we will have 60+ observers in 15 states around the country observing the election.
“And, of course, it is very important that INEC remains as the impartial umpire for this election.
“So please do go out and exercise your democratic right to vote. We wish all Nigerians all the very best for the election day,” Liang said.
